Everyone should start to create software and apps, even 6 and 7 year olds. This course is intended to teach early readers, and students up to age 9, the concepts and skills of creating code.
This coding course starts with a blend of online activities and "unplugged" activities where students learn and understand
concepts without a computer, and writing out commands that then become a game, animation or story. Students also have debugging exercises which helps kids learn
to fix a puzzle or solve a problem.
Some of the lessons include the Engineering Design Process where children are asked to understand the problem, create a plan to solve it, perform the task of
solving and then seeing if improvements can be made.
Different tech lessons and software platforms will be used including Scratch ®, developed by MIT media labs.
